Dick Evans Memorial Road Race

Tired of watching Tour de France on television? Do you want to pretend you are Carlos Sastre climbing the hills of Alpe d`Huez or Lance Armstrong riding the streets of Champs-Elysee in Paris toward the finish line? Well, you can participate in Hawaii's own Tour de `Oahu or Dick Evans Memorial Road Race.

Mark your calendars for
Sunday, August 31, 2008, 05:30 AM, starting at Hawaii Kai Park & Ride. Don't miss the deadline to register, cut-off time is Sunday, August 24, 2008, at 11:59 PST. Late Fee of $20.00 for all registrants after August 17. Go to <active.com> and search for "Dick Evans Memorial Road Race" to enter. Field Limit of 250 riders. Post-race awards party at Kona Brewery, Hawaii Kai.

Cambio/Core will once again be responsible for the first feed in Kunia and one support vehicle to travel in the caravan. Because of the high cost of gasoline, whoever volunteers to drive will be compensated for their gasoline or if someone is willing to drive David Lum's car, this is another option. Please contact David Lum if you are interested or you would like more information. We are looking for 15-20 volnteers to help pass out water in Kunia. (Carpooling is encouraged.) Because this is the first aid station, we anticipate a large crowd going pass rather quickly, but the beauty of this is, you are done early. Once the pack goes by, we are done. You'll have plenty of time to head over to Hawaii Kai to watch the finish.

If you've never watched or volunteered at this race, I really encourage you to get involved. This is a chance to give back to the cycling sport and support your fellow cyclist. If you are interested in volunteering, please post your name at the bottom of this entry in the "comment" link, or you can email me at gaymurakam@yahoo.com. Call your friends, family and co-workers, and come out to cheer Cambio/Core and the rest of the riders. Cambio/Core is riding strong and this is going to be an exciting year. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to race day.

Ride safe,
Gay
